A WELCOME MESSAGE FROM OUR CHAIRPERSON/CEO
Across Manyu Division and Nchang Town to be specific, the people are struggling to get jobs, gain access to health care, receive basic education, have access to drinkable water, and suffer from hunger and malnutrition amongst others.
Unfortunately, too many organizations serving Manyu Division are seeing significant increase in demand for vital services while facing a combination of challenges, including constraints in program funding, lack of liquidity, weak infrastructure, and sadly the fragmentation of efforts and wastage of resources. In this environment, there is need to develop stronger boards, new business models, and outcomes-based strategies. Our funding needs are big, but we have been left anemic, reactive, and reliant on the donations of our members to deliver services.
How are we to respond?
We could simply accept that there is not and will not be enough money to address the social challenges facing the Nchang community in the United States and back home in Cameroon. Because we live in a country with plenty of people with good-will and philanthropy, we are expanding our donor-base to all persons who share our goals and values. Also, to avoid mediocracy, poor outcomes, and limited impact, we are calling on all our members to be advocates and brand ambassadors for our mission.
What excites me about this opportunity is the fact that we have chosen the path to break the rules, escape our silos, and end the culture of scarcity that has plagued our communities. I believe Boh Nchang USA Inc. will bring together people, money, capacity building, and partnerships to drive real on-the-ground change in our communities. We will serve as champions of the great work being done by our donors. All of us here at Boh Nchang USA Inc. from the members to the board to our donors recognize that now is not the time to step back but rather to step forward.
Building Community & Collaboration
Breaking the cycle of poverty and under-development in Nchang Town will require a committed effort that involves government, funders, the private sector, and other nonprofit organizations. Consequently, we want to act as a vehicle for collaborative efforts among all our partners and stakeholders to address issues of equity, economic mobility, and ensuring access for all. This is going to be a team effort, and I am deeply grateful to the entire team here at Boh Nchang USA Inc. To our donors, thank you for your unwavering dedication and generosity in leading this amazing work for the past decade.
Under the previous leadership of President Offu Tambe, Boh Nchang USA Inc. accomplished many economic development projects. The group donated $25,000.00, approximately 15 million FCFA of food stuff to alleviate the extreme hunger caused by the ongoing crisis. Also, we distributed laundry soap and donated handsomely in the creation of the Roman Catholic Parish in Nchang Town. Additionally, the group supported the activities of the Nchang All Students Union (NASU).
Ongoing and future projects that need your support include:
- The provision of solar panels to power local economic activities and end the decades of darkness.
- Support smallholder farmers producing palm oil, cassava, beans, plantains, vegetables, and yams, while connecting them to better domestic and international markets.
- Sponsor smallholder poultry and pig farmers, especially female farmers.
- Providing boreholes for clean portable drinking water.
- Education support programs once school resumes.
- Provision of basic health supplies and equipment.
As Boh Nchang USA Inc. looks to adapt and respond to the changing needs of our communities, I hope we can count on you to join us as thought partners and co-creators of game-changing strategies that drive innovation, strengthen our partners, and disrupt the cycle of poverty. This will enable our youths, smallholder farmers, small business owners, and other inhabitants of Nchang Town to thrive regardless of their backgrounds.
